Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that can be passed from one person to another through sexual contact. Oral sex is one of the many ways that an STD can be transmitted. Going down on a woman means performing oral sex on her, and it is possible to get an STD from doing so if either partner is infected.
The most common STD that can be transmitted through oral sex is human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is a virus that can cause genital warts, cervical cancer, and other health problems. Other STDs that can be transmitted through oral sex include chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes simplex virus (HSV), and syphilis.
